Mothers & Daughters: Love, Baggage, & The Women Who Made Us

Sunday, Nov. 15, 6:30 - 8 PM at Opa - 2050 S Lamar Blvd, Austin, TX 78704
Free for members / suggested donation of $20 for non-members

We’re continuing our Convo Series with a discussion about one of the most formative, fraught, and emotionally complex relationships in our lives: the one between mothers and daughters. Whether we're raising daughters ourselves, navigating relationships with our own mothers, or reckoning with the ways we've been shaped by the women who raised us, there's a lot to unpack. Together, we'll explore the love, loyalty, expectations, resentments, and unspoken rules that get passed down from one generation to the next. We'll talk about the ways we become our mothers and the ways we've consciously chosen to be different. This conversation is a chance to reflect on what these relationships have given us and what they've cost us, while finding solidarity in the complicated space between.

When did simply keeping up with life become so damn exhausting? Between work, family, relationships, endless to-do lists, and the constant pressure to be doing more, it's no wonder so many of us feel like we're running on empty. We’ll talk about the invisible labor of keeping our families, careers, and relationships afloat, the pressure to be productive even when we're running on fumes, and the difference between ordinary tiredness and the deeper exhaustion. Come ready for honest conversation, shared experiences, and plenty of humor too.
